My very first Blog post

Let me start by saying, officially I have a high school education. Unofficially I have much more to offer than that implies. This is my very first foray in to public writing of any kind. Please don’t hold my obvious grammar shortcomings against me. I know what I want to say and have good content to offer. It definitely wouldn’t fare well if an English teacher got a hold of it though. My sincere hope is this blog doesn’t wind up like the nuclear explosion above.

I am an IT professional. I got my first real taste of anything IT related in 2000 and haven’t looked back since. I absolutely love it. I love being challenged. I can’t get enough making things work. I knew there was no going back when someone showed me how to, of all things, copy and paste. I saw the right-click menu and that was it. I was intrigued and couldn’t learn fast enough.

I got my start with a family owned business and had to teach myself just so we could get things done. I was a one man band for that business. Desktop support, networking, T-COM, Sysadmin and so on. The business went under and I was forced to look for employment elsewhere.

My first job with an enterprise was with a well known convenience store chain. I started out doing desktop support. That was a great gig but I wanted more. Through hard work and company growth an opportunity presented itself with Config Manager. I knew what it was and knew I wanted that opportunity. I jumped all over it. I was sent to training. 5 days later I was one of three admins standing up Config Manager. I learned a lot, fast because I had too but it was great.

My passion has always been OSD. After working at the previous job for a couple years and getting my feet wet, an opportunity in the Oil business presented itself. That is where I am currently employed. I am the OSD engineer for that company. We use Config Manager, MDT, and Orchestrator.

I have a desire to give back to the community that has been so helpful to me over the years. Without those guys like Neihaus, Johan, Mikael, and on and on, I would have never been able to get the things done that I have. Now that I am more experienced, I am going to share what I have learned in hopes that someone out there can improve their skills or find a solution to one of their problems like I have so many times. If you find something helpful please let me know. I’m new to this and could really use the encouragement!
